Key Programmes and Achievements
S3 Math Modelling
Mathematical modeling uses mathematics to represent and analyze real-world situations. Students develop essential data handling skills, interpreting data through digital tools like Desmos and Excel. Working in groups, they refine their models to improve accuracy, gaining valuable communication and collaboration skills. This project enhances their ability to communicate complex ideas and strengthens their scientific and mathematical communication.
S1 Amazing Race - “Math Mission: It’s Possible”
Our Secondary 1 students took on an exciting challenge to solve math problems positioned throughout the school. As they solved each problem, they uncovered hints to break a code. This hands-on approach emphasizes learning through experience, allowing students to engage deeply, develop metacognitive skills, and gain 21st-century competencies.
Innovation with AlgeCards
As part of a Lesson Study initiative in 2009, we developed AlgeCards in collaboration with Assistant Professor Dr. Leong Yew Hoong from NIE-MME. These teaching aids support algebraic learning across the school, accompanied by pre-made lesson plans tailored to our students' learning needs.
S2 Statistics and Data Handling Lesson Package
Our interactive lesson package introduces students to foundational spreadsheet skills through hands-on experiences with real-world data. They learn to organize, interpret, and visually represent data through charts, developing data analysis skills to make informed decisions. This enriching experience strengthens their analytical thinking, creativity, and teamwork skills, which are invaluable for future learning and real-life applications.
Flipped Learning Resources
Our teachers integrate ICT tools to foster student-directed learning. Google Classroom facilitates resource sharing, while interactive tools like Kahoot and Quizziz support formative assessments. Video lessons complement learning, and platforms like DESMOS and SLS promote collaborative learning. Success Criteria, Self-Assessment checklists, and 'Test My Understanding' assignments empower students to monitor their progress and take steps to enhance their learning journey.
In-house Math Olympiad Training
Led by our senior teacher, Mr. Liu Sijan, our Math Olympiad Training program sharpens students' advanced mathematical skills over ten sessions. This program fosters critical and creative thinking, preparing students to compete at both national and international levels.
Principles of Accounts (POA)
In today’s dynamic business landscape, our POA course extends beyond numbers, instilling fundamental accounting knowledge and critical financial management skills. Students gain insights into accounting as an information system essential for making sound business decisions.
Secondary Two Financial Literacy Programme
Our Financial Literacy programme introduces students to principles like delayed gratification, saving, and budgeting. This foundational knowledge encourages responsible financial habits and empowers students to make informed choices throughout their lives.
