The Bukit View Show Choir comprises of 37 jovial and fun-loving choir members.
In 2016, we got to display our singing and dancing skills at Bukit View’s 30th anniversary production “Kaleidoscope”, held at the University Cultural Centre. In July, our Sec 1s to 3s participated in B’Dazzled – an SYF for Show Choirs, held at the RWS Theatre in Sentosa and obtained a Silver. Through these experiences, we learnt to conquer our fears and inhibitions of performing in front a thousand-strong crowd and made our parents, seniors, instructors, teachers and school proud.
Besides singing, we also bonded with our fellow mates through attending concerts. We attended the Seoul Ladies Singers Primavera SICF Feature concert in August 2016 at the SCO Concert Hall. This animated 20-member strong ladies choir captivated our hearts through their heavenly voices and unexpected dance moves and inspired us to achieve even greater heights for the coming year.
In 2017, we practised very hard for the Singapore Youth Festival Arts Presentation at SOTA in April and our hard work paid off. We obtained a Certificate of Accomplishment for our efforts. In July, we participated in B’dazzled, held at the RWS Theatre in Sentosa. We maintained our Silver award by performing songs from the series The Descendants.
For bonding activities, the choir tried out something new and planned an Amazing Race cum BBQ night for the members. We were fortunate to have the support of our alumni members and parents; who gamely baked muffins, bought satay for our members and stayed throughout our activity. In June, we attended a choir concert performed by The Youth Choir at CHIJMES. In August, we were very blessed to have been fully sponsored by Hong Leong Foundation to attend the show “Forbidden City” by SRT.
Moving forward in 2018 and beyond, the choir will be exploring more acapella music and interesting choral works on top of testing the boundaries of our voices, our minds and the friendships forged as one big family.
– To discover more about our strengths and capabilities
– To learn to sing together and blend with one another
– To learn to work together as a choral team
– To learn to socialize with one another
